Tibet-Sichuan Expedition Itinerary
4-Day Western Sichuan Scenic Loop
(Chengdu / Chongqing ⇔ Chongqing / Chengdu)
A breathtaking driving loop through snow-capped mountains, Tibetan villages, alpine grasslands, and dramatic rock formations—perfect for nature and culture lovers seeking an authentic glimpse of Western Sichuan's raw beauty.
Day 1: Departure → Balang Mountain → Siguniangshan Town
Depart from Chengdu or Chongqing and travel toward Siguniangshan Town. Stop at Balang Mountain Viewpoint to take in sweeping snow-covered landscapes. Upon arrival, stroll through the town, sample local delicacies, and end the day with a spectacular sunset over the Golden Peaks of the Siguniang Mountains.
Overnight: Siguniangshan Town
Day 2: Shuangqiao Valley → Xiaojin County → Danba County
Spend 4–5 hours exploring Shuangqiao Valley, one of the highlights of Siguniang Mountain, known for its towering snow peaks, open meadows, and crystal-clear alpine lakes. Continue driving through Xiaojin County to Danba, stopping at Wori Tusi Manor and the Zhonglu Tibetan Villages along the way. Depending on the season, enjoy views of blooming pear and apple trees or the chance to pick fresh fruit. In the evening, savor authentic Tibetan cuisine and local barbecues.
Overnight: Danba County
Day 3: Danba → Yala Snow Mountain → Tagong Town → Xinduqiao
Journey across Yala Snow Mountain toward Tagong Town. Visit Moshi Park, famous for its otherworldly rock formations, and wander across Tagong Grassland, offering wide-open views of Yala Snow Mountain. Continue to Xinduqiao, known as the “paradise of photographers,” and witness a stunning sunset over the Golden Peaks of Gongga Snow Mountain.
Overnight: Xinduqiao
Day 4: Xinduqiao → Zheduo Mountain → Kangding → Return
Travel back along the iconic National Highway 318. Stop at Zheduo Mountain to enjoy high-altitude snow scenery before passing through Kangding. Continue the return journey to Chengdu or Chongqing, bringing an unforgettable Western Sichuan adventure to a close.
3-Day Western Sichuan Discovery
(Chongqing / Chengdu ⇔ Chongqing / Chengdu)
A compact yet immersive journey through ancient villages, dramatic mountain landscapes, and alpine valleys—perfect for travelers seeking culture, history, and natural beauty in Western Sichuan.
Day 1: Chongqing / Chengdu → Taoping Qiang Village → Lixian → Jiesi Valley → Wori Tusi Manor
Qiang settlements in China. Continue to Lixian County before driving along the scenic Lixiao Road, passing through the pristine Jiesi Valley, where snow-capped mountains and flowing streams create a striking natural backdrop. Arrive at Wori Tusi Manor to explore its historic Tusi architecture and learn about the region's rich Qiang–Tibetan cultural heritage.
Overnight: Wori Tusi Manor
Day 2: Wori Tusi Manor → Siguniangshan Town → Shuangqiao Valley
Travel to Siguniangshan Town and spend the day exploring Shuangqiao Valley, the core scenic area of Siguniang Mountain. Discover alpine lakes, expansive meadows, and towering snow peaks as you take in one of Western Sichuan's most iconic landscapes. In the evening, witness the breathtaking Golden Peak Sunset over Siguniang Mountain.
Overnight: Siguniangshan Town
Day 3: Siguniangshan Town → Balang Mountain → Dujiangyan → Return
Begin the return journey via Balang Mountain, stopping at the viewpoint to admire panoramic snow scenery and seas of clouds. Continue on to visit the world-famous Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and marvel of ancient engineering. Afterward, drive back to Chongqing or Chengdu, concluding the journey.
